Invitation to IFBLS World Congress of Biomedical Laboratory Science Student Forum 2012
dvta and IFBLS have given Sweden the honor of arranging the Student Forum to be delivered as part of the Scientific Program of the 30th World Congress of Biomedical Laboratory Science scheduled to take place in Berlin, Germany from August 18th-22nd, 2012.
The purpose of the Student Forum is to give current biomedical laboratory science students the opportunity to participate in an international meeting. Advantages to students will be their ability to set their own agenda in terms of establishing a program on issues pertinent to current and potentially future students. Importantly, students attending the Forum will have the opportunity to network with their international student peers, in addition to be able to share their opinions with their current biomedical laboratory science colleagues. Since today’s students will be tomorrows educators and practitioners, it is important that as many students as possible attend and contribute to the Forum.
We are looking forward to having a large number of student delegates, preferably one from each member country. The Student Forum will consist of discussion sessions on different topics pertinent to the needs of students. While attending the Congress students will be expected to take part in many of the other activities scientific program, in addition to workshops and laboratory visits. Also, there will be the opportunity to present Bachelor thesis’ projects in the Student Poster Session and thus by doing so they will participate in the Student Poster Competition.
We are cordially asking you now to inform all your student members and then sign them up for this exciting opportunity to meet future colleagues and friends-to-be from all over the world!
The facilitators of the Student Forum are Tanja Wijkmark and Isabel Strand. Both Tanja and Isabel are registered Biomedical Scientists. Tanja is currently working as Organizational Development Manager at the Swedish Institute of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IBL) and Isabel is Student Advisor at the Swedish Association of Health Professionals. We both have previous experience in arranging this kind of events.
IFBLS has given Sweden the honor of arranging the Student Forum. We are thankful for the trust and we are looking forward to interesting days together with you. The theme of the student forum is “Teaching through the eyes of the students”. We will discuss differences and similarities between the countries regarding education, profession and future based on a questionnaire, which will be summed up and presented at the GAD. Please view this presentation for more details.
